Human condition

"The future is not for us to see"
Humans work toward controlling their future,

They need to be more open to expecting the unknown. To be flexible with what the future brings, roll with the punches, reduces anxiety of the aftermath. Easier said than done, I know. Try taking a class on mindfulness. Being mindful will help tremendously. What's 'mindfulness' you say?
"a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations."

Sounds complicated, I know. That's why I said take a class.

"Make today the best day of your life"

Not unlike others, I read this statement passively.
How could I possibly make today the best day of my life? I'm not on vacation; It is not my wedding day; I'm not doing something out of my ordinary routine.
So then this statement becomes an "if only".

It is in the small things that something can become extra ordinary.
The details. Be positive.

Generally used for motivational purposes, I can use this statement to make everyday life just a little bit better.

June 6 - D-Day

The quote says "There is only one success- to be able to spend your life in your own way." -Christopher Morely. This quote rings true because of the sacrifices of our Military that day and everyday.

Sitting here in my empty apartment with a few boxes and things lying around, listening to Luke Bryan's "Drink a beer", I commemorate D-Day's 70th anniversary. Our US military stormed that battle front and overcame. Reminiscing the time I visited Normandy in high school, a proud and dutiful feeling swelled inside me that day. My Troop supportin', patriotic, freedom lovin' persona emerged.
JFK once said "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." As a patriotic American citizen and Marine Wife, this quote is my mantra. Today my husband separates from the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, and we begin our journey across this great country to Minnesota. The purple mountains majesties and fruited plains we will see are still here because of our Military and all who have defended America the Beautiful.

Daily wisdom March 7, 2014- revised

"Worrying is like praying for what you don’t want."
How many times have you worried about something or someone, and you come to find out all that fret was for nothing? Just time wasted on negative energy (esp bad for your health). Worried about your taxes? Yes taxes are quite important. Either you will owe X-amount or not owe anything. Apr 15 can be considered 'dooms day' to those who start on taxes late. Why putting it off? every year we all know they need to be done. know they probably wont be done in time? file for extension early. or start working on them towards the end of the year, and work a little bit at a time. Yes, taxes are stressful, but do not require to take some time off your life span when preventable Worried about your health? Eat better, exercise a few days a week. Still wondering? get answers. Worried its life threatening? We're all gonna die one day. That's just an IS, why fight it? Worried about the dinner party you're hosting this Friday? Is the tablecloth ironed? Do we have enough asparagus? When the time comes, your guests will see how much time you put into this, and if something gets burnt, they'll still appreciate your efforts. If they can't see that - Why do you care if they approve or not? You are the only person who needs to approve. The phrase "roll with the punches" seems appropriate. Worried about a relative or old friend you haven't heard from? Send them an email, call, or even a letter. (The latter will be much more appreciated. Takes about 3 days) You will feel much better, and free yourself from regret of never getting in that last message. Worried about your lover? Ask them. Worried about your job? Start looking for another. Worried about a test? Study more Worried about food? There are churches and soup kitchens around with pantries. This isn't the great depression. Food isn't scarce. If you're a person who has a higher power or is a believer, start with the real type of prayer- the one you send above. If you're an introvert - write it down. (it feels better to get it out). Worrying a lack of patience. Communication is a game changer.

Pope Francis shows us how it's done!

Doing what the "Pope" should do. So far this notable Pope is my favorite. These are the values and morals desperately needed to be adopted by society. Don't be intimidated because it's the Pope. Perhaps this is may be an effective way God is able to remind the world because the media covers it. I am concerned, however, people are idolizing him for this behavior instead of practicing. The Bible teaches about Jesus and what he did so we could be like him. The Pope is showing how it's done!
